Dubai’s commitment to enhancing its urban infrastructure has taken a significant leap forward with the announcement of the Dubai Metro Blue Line. This ambitious project, valued at AED 20.5 billion (approximately $5.6 billion), aims to bolster the city’s public transportation network and support its rapid economic and social development.

Project Overview

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the construction contract to a consortium comprising Turkey’s MAPA and Limak, alongside China’s state-owned CRRC. The Blue Line will extend over 30 kilometers, featuring 14 stations that seamlessly connect key areas such as Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Al Warqaa, Mirdif, Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Academic City, and Dubai International City. Strategically designed interchanges at Creek (Green Line) and Centrepoint (Red Line) stations will facilitate smooth transitions for commuters, while integration with the Etihad Rail network will further enhance regional connectivity.

Construction Timeline

Construction is slated to commence in April 2025, and the project will be executed in phases. The Blue Line is expected to become operational on September 9, 2029, marking a significant milestone in Dubai’s transportation landscape.
